How does Song ID work?
Your browser records a short clip of whatever audio is playing nearby, sends it to a song-recognition service to identify the track, then checks the result against gaku.moe's own database of anime openings and endings. Pasting a YouTube link skips the recording step — we look up that video's title directly and match it the same way.
Do I need to install an app?
No — Song ID runs entirely in your mobile or desktop browser using the microphone API, or by pasting a link. No app or account required.
What YouTube links work?
Any standard YouTube video, short, or youtu.be link. If it's a video we already have on file for an anime's OP/ED, you'll get an instant match; otherwise we look up the video's title and match that against our database.
Is my recording saved?
No. The clip is only used to identify the song and isn't stored after the request completes.
What if the anime isn't in your database?
Song ID will still tell you the song title and artist if it recognizes the audio — even if that particular anime's OP/ED isn't cataloged on gaku.moe yet, you'll know what to search for. You can also let us know via the Contact page.
